TikTok Smart+ Creative Selection: where a Sume clip enters

Smart+ Creative Selection pools brand assets, Symphony and creator videos in one approval flow. A Sume clip enters as a brand asset: how to size and brief it.

A video you make in Sume enters TikTok's Smart+ Creative Selection as a brand-owned asset: you export the clip, upload it to your ad account, and it joins the same approval workflow as Symphony-generated videos and creator content. TikTok announced Creative Selection on 5 October 2026. Sume does not push into that pool for you, so the work on your side is making clips that are ready to approve.

What did TikTok announce?

In its 5 October 2026 newsroom post, TikTok described Smart+ Creative Selection as a feature that consolidates advertiser assets, Symphony AI-generated creatives and creator content into a single approval workflow. The same post lists Buy Direct, a Shopping Assistant, Agentic Leads and the TikTok Ad Network among the day's announcements. The page does not give video specs for the new workflow, so check the specs in your own Ads Manager before you export.

How do I make a clip that is ready to approve?

Treat the pool as a shortlist where your clip competes with two other sources, so give reviewers less to fix. Ask for the vertical ratio, pick a length that fits one idea, and finish the cut before upload.

  • Generate in 9:16. The video catalog lists the aspect ratios and durations each model accepts, and seedance-2.5 accepts 4 to 30 seconds at 480p, 720p and 1080p, so read GET /v1/videos/models first.
  • Make three or four short variants rather than one long film, each with a different first second, so the pool has real choices.
  • Keep the product visible in the opening frames and put captions in the cut, not in an overlay you add later.
  • Download the finished file from the completed job and upload it as a normal brand asset.

Does Sume label the clip as AI?

Sume hands you the video file. Whether and how a disclosure appears on TikTok is decided where you publish and by the rules shown in your ad account, not by the file Sume returns. Read the label setting in Ads Manager when you upload, and decide it per clip; see the related post on Symphony labels for the comparison.

What does a batch look like?

Submit each variant as its own job with a distinct idempotency key, then poll or use a webhook until each job completes. The jobs documentation describes the polling flow and the result URLs. Keep a short naming convention (hook, length, version) so you can tell which upload is which when Creative Selection shows them side by side with Symphony and creator videos.
