TikTok Symphony Agent adds AI labels; a Sume upload does not

TikTok says Symphony Agent output carries AI labels and invisible watermarks. A Sume file has no such step in the docs, so here is what to add before posting.

TikTok says Symphony Agent has built-in safeguards that include AI labels, invisible watermarks and content moderation filters. A video you generate on Sume and upload yourself does not pass through that step, and Sume's docs list no Content Credentials or watermark step for outputs, so the disclosure on a Sume file is something you add and set.

The Symphony line is from TikTok's newsroom post for Cannes Lions, TikTok at Cannes Lions 2026, dated June 22, 2026 and read on 2026-10-07.

Two routes to a TikTok ad

The difference is where the label comes from.

Why this matters

TikTok's newsroom also says more than 3 billion videos have been labeled as AI-generated, through Content Credentials, creator tools and invisible watermarking (AI transparency post). Creator tools are one of the three paths on that list, which means the label you set on upload is a real part of the system, not a formality. If you skip it for a file that came from outside, you depend on TikTok detecting the file by itself.

What to add to a Sume file

Do these in order; none of them needs TikTok's tools.

  • Set the AI-generated content label in TikTok when you upload the video. The walk-through for ads is in how to label a TikTok ad as AI-generated.
  • Burn a short on-screen line with video captions cues if the clip could pass for real footage. A standalone caption job is $0.20 for a video of up to 60 seconds.
  • Keep the generation record: the job id, the model and the usage.cost from the poll response of the video job, next to the TikTok post id.
  • Do not assume the label survives a re-encode. Re-exporting or trimming a file can drop embedded metadata, so set the label on the final file, not on an earlier one.

When Symphony is the better fit

If you want TikTok to apply the labels and watermark for you and you work inside TikTok's ad stack, Symphony is built for that. If you need a specific Sume model, a pinned first frame or a reference video, generate on Sume and handle the label yourself. The input differences are covered in Symphony prompts vs Sume inputs and the reference-video path in recreate a reference video by API.

What we did not verify

The Cannes page does not say how the watermark is detected or whether it survives a download and re-upload. We make no claim about either, and we did not test Symphony output.
