How to label a TikTok ad as AI-generated
In TikTok Ads Manager, tick 'This ad contains AI-generated content' at ad creation. It covers non-Spark ads only and resets on campaign duplication.

While creating the ad in TikTok Ads Manager, check the toggle "This ad contains AI-generated content" and then click Submit. TikTok says the toggle applies to ads that are not Spark ads and whose image, video or audio is completely AI-generated or significantly modified by AI.
Every TikTok step below is from How to add disclaimers to ads in TikTok Ads Manager, a TikTok Business Help Center page marked "Last updated: September 2025", read 2026-09-29. Sume's part is only making the video file.
When does the AI-generated content toggle apply?
TikTok says advertisers must first assess whether the ad meets the criteria. Both conditions have to be true:
| Condition | What the page says |
|---|---|
| Is a TikTok ad | Required |
| Is not a Spark ad | Spark ads live organically on TikTok, so they follow the Community Guidelines policy for AI-generated content disclosure instead |
| AI content | The image, video or audio is either completely AI-generated or significantly modified by AI |
What are the steps in Ads Manager?
TikTok's page lists a short flow. It also notes that you might not see the disclaimer features if they are not available to you, and points to your TikTok sales representative.
- Create a campaign, or go to an existing campaign.
- In the ad creation process, check "This ad contains AI-generated content".
- Click Submit when ad creation is done.
Can I change the label after I submit?
Not easily. TikTok says that after you submit, you cannot change or unselect the toggle unless you change the video or image.
It also says any new campaign creation, including campaign duplication, resets the toggle, even if you reuse an ad that previously used it. If you duplicate a campaign that carries AI video, check the toggle again on the copy.
What about a Spark ad with an AI video?
The Ads Manager toggle is not the route. TikTok says Spark ads must follow the Community Guidelines policy for AI-generated content disclosure, which is the same disclosure a creator uses on an organic post. TikTok's Shop Academy page lists on-screen text, watermarks, stickers, a note in the video description, or the "AI-generated content" toggle on the post settings page as ways for creators to disclose.
Does the Sume video file carry the label for me?
No. The label is set in Ads Manager or on the post, not in the file. Sume's video generation docs describe the /v1/videos request and its parameters and do not list a watermark or content-credential option, so do not assume a Sume MP4 is labeled anywhere. Decide the label yourself when you upload.
If you burn in on-screen text such as an AI disclosure line, treat that as a separate step in your edit. TikTok's help page also has a separate custom disclaimer text feature, with a 90-character maximum for a standard disclaimer, and says it may be used only for disclaimer information.
