On TikTok Shop, an AI video that breaks the AI-generated content rules can have its distribution restricted, lose its product links and shopping functionality, and cost the creator Creator Health Rating points; repeat violations escalate to posting restrictions and commission withdrawal suspension. Those penalties come from TikTok's AI-Generated Content Restrictions and Requirements page (US, dated 09/02/2026, read 2026-10-02).

That page is the source for every TikTok fact below. Sume facts come from Video captions and Video filter. Product-accuracy rules are covered in TikTok Shop AI video rules; this post is about consequences.

What are the content-level penalties?

The page splits enforcement into content-level and account-level actions. Content-level means the single video is hit; account-level means the creator is.

Enforcement as listed on TikTok Shop Seller University, US, read 2026-10-02.
LevelAction listed
ContentRestricted distribution or visibility
ContentRemoval of product links and shopping functionality
ContentCreator Health Rating point deduction
AccountWarnings for minor violations
AccountPosting restrictions for repeated violations
AccountCommission withdrawal suspension
AccountPermanent ban for severe or unlawful activity

Which AI uses does the page say are fine?

The page permits cartoon or anime conversion, quality enhancement, translation and dubbing, copywriting assistance, and virtual product demonstrations as long as they are accurate. It prohibits altering specifications such as size, color, material, quantity or features, showing unrealistic effects or instant results, exaggerating performance, and using a third party's likeness, voice, name or trademark without authorisation.

Disclosure is the part you can fix in the file. Creators can add on-screen text, a watermark, a sticker or a description note, or switch on the AI-generated content toggle, which shows "Disclosed by creator as AI-generated" at the bottom left. The page also says the system may add labels itself from technical metadata and that creators cannot remove them.

Can Sume burn the disclosure into the video?

Partly. Sume can burn timed text onto a finished clip, which is a way to carry an on-screen disclosure that survives a re-upload. POST /v1/video-captions accepts cues with text, start and end, and burns exactly that copy without speech-to-text, so it works on a silent clip. Cost is $0.20 per job for clips up to 60 seconds.

Whether on-screen text alone satisfies TikTok for your category is TikTok's call, not Sume's; the page lists it as one valid method next to the toggle.

curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/video-captions \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: ai-note-001" \
  -d '{"video_url":"https://media.sume.com/artifacts/artf_demo/demo.mp4","style":"black-outline","cues":[{"text":"AI-generated demo","start":0,"end":3}]}'

What stays outside Sume's control?

Sume cannot flip the AI-generated content toggle, because it does not post to TikTok Shop. It cannot reverse a Health Rating deduction or see your rating. It also cannot guarantee a clip is product-accurate; check the footage against the real item before publishing.

If your account is already restricted, the page's account-level list is the thing to read first, then your Seller University notices for your market.
