TikTok Shop AI rules: UK from 28 August vs US from 2 September 2026
TikTok Shop's UK AI page took effect 28 Aug 2026 and the US page 2 Sep 2026. Here is what each names, bans and enforces, side by side.

TikTok Shop's UK AI page took effect on 28 August 2026 and the US page on 2 September 2026. Both accept the same two disclosure routes, the "AI-generated content" toggle or an on-screen note, but the UK page names AI scripts and bans high-volume repetitive content, while the US page spells out unauthorized rights and fake professional personas.
One Sume master can serve both markets, as long as you check the listing and disclosure for each region. This page compares what each TikTok page states and nothing more.
Side by side
The table below uses each page's own wording where possible. A blank cell means the page, as read on 2026-10-07, did not state it.
| Topic | US page (effective 2026-09-02) | UK page (effective 2026-08-28) |
|---|---|---|
| Must disclose | Fully AI-generated or significantly AI-edited; synthetic faces, voices, digital humans; realistic effects | AI significantly contributing: scripts, voices, avatars, images, animations |
| Disclosure routes | Toggle ("Disclosed by creator as AI-generated") or on-screen text, watermark, sticker, description note | Same two routes |
| Official TikTok AI effects | Labeled automatically | Labeled automatically |
| Impersonation | Likeness, voice, name, trademarks without permission; fake doctors and experts | Celebrities, public figures, medical professionals, official authorities |
| Product accuracy | Size, color, material, quantity, features, compatibility; exaggerated effects | Capabilities, effectiveness, size, packaging, features, dimensions |
| Repetitive content | High-volume repetitive, low-effort content prohibited | |
| Enforcement | Warnings to bans; reach limits; product link removal; Creator Health Rating points | Posting restrictions, traffic limits, suspension, e-commerce permissions, commission withholding |
What it means for one master video
Disclosure is the same in both markets, so build it into the file. Burned-in text with Video captions cues is part of the file, and you still switch the toggle on at post time.
Accuracy is also the same in both. Pull stills from the final MP4, compare them with the listing, and keep the notes. If a market asks for different copy, a Timeline render with a different audio spine costs $0.10 per output minute and reuses the same picture slots.
What to check before you rely on this
TikTok pages change. Both are Seller University articles; re-open them before a big campaign. The dates above are the effective dates shown on each page, not the dates of any newsroom announcement. For other markets, find the seller page for that country instead of assuming it matches either of these.
Which date applies to you
Post under the rules of the market where the video is shown. A UK seller follows the UK page from 28 August 2026; a US seller follows the US page from 2 September 2026. If you run both, keep the stricter reading as your default and note the date you last checked each page.
Enforcement differs in the wording, too. The US page lists warnings, warnings, posting restrictions, commission withdrawal blocks, suspension or bans, distribution limits, product link removal, and rating deductions. The UK page lists posting restrictions, traffic limits, suspension, removal of e-commerce permissions, and commission withholding. In both cases, the money consequences land on the seller, so the label step is cheap insurance.
