Facebook Groups Feed Video Ad Specs: 1440x1440 and 1440x1800

Meta lists Groups Feed video ads as 1:1 at 1440x1440 or 4:5 at 1440x1800, with 50-150 characters of primary text. Conform a clip to both with Sume video trim.

What are the Groups Feed video ad specs?

Meta's Groups Feed video page lists two sizes: 1:1 at 1440x1440 for desktop or mobile, and 4:5 at 1440x1800 for mobile only. Files can be MP4, MOV or GIF, up to 4 GB, from 1 second to 241 minutes, with a 120 px minimum dimension. Video should be H.264 with stereo AAC audio at 128 kbps or higher.

Text limits are 50 to 150 characters of primary text and a 27-character headline. The page says captions and sound are optional but recommended, that the container should have no edit lists, and that the thumbnail comes from the advertiser-selected thumbnail. I read it on 2026-10-03.

Why do two sizes matter?

The 4:5 version is mobile only, so a campaign that includes desktop Groups placement needs the square as well. Rendering both from one cut keeps your creative consistent. The 4:5 frame is the taller one, so it is the better home for vertical footage with a subject near the middle.

How do I produce both with Sume?

Use the video trim endpoint twice, with precision: "exact" and an output conform: { "width": 1440, "height": 1440 } for the square and { "width": 1440, "height": 1800 } for the portrait. Both sit inside the documented 256 to 2160 range, and each trim is listed at $0.02. For a different framing than the default, run the video filter endpoint first with a crop op; crop rectangles are fractions of the source, so one filter pass can set the subject position for both outputs.

The edit-list warning is worth taking seriously. Sume writes a new MP4 for each job instead of rewriting your original container, which gives you a fresh file to test against Meta's requirement. Confirm the result with your own inspection tool, because Sume's docs do not promise Meta acceptance.

  • Keep audio on keep for sound-on placements.
  • Name the two files by size so they cannot be swapped at upload.
  • Re-check the primary text count: 50 minimum, 150 maximum.

What does the 50-character floor change?

Most ad text guidance warns about being too long. This page sets a floor as well: 50 characters minimum for primary text. A one-line tagline will not fill it, so write a short sentence that states who the group is for and what the clip shows, then count the characters in your editor.

Add captions, since the page recommends them. A caption pass on a clip with speech is $0.20 per job in Sume, and clips without speech fail with caption_no_speech; for silent clips, supply your own cue timings instead.
