Facebook Reels Carousel Ad Specs: 2 to 10 Cards at 1080x1920
Meta lists Facebook Reels carousel ads as 2-10 image cards, 9:16 at 1080x1920 or more, 30 MB each. Build the card set with the Sume Images API at 9:16.

What are the Facebook Reels carousel ad specs?
For Facebook Reels carousels, Meta's page lists JPG or PNG images, 9:16 recommended at 1080x1920 or more, 30 MB per image, a minimum of 500 px wide by 262 px tall, and a 1% tolerance. A carousel has 2 to 10 cards, and primary text is capped at 40 characters. The Reels safe zone applies as on other Reels formats.
The page describes the carousel as horizontally scrollable product tiles beneath the main ad. I read it on 2026-10-03; spec pages change, so confirm before you build 10 cards.
| Field | Meta's value |
|---|---|
| File types | JPG, PNG |
| Aspect ratio | 9:16 recommended |
| Resolution | 1080x1920 or more |
| Max image size | 30 MB |
| Minimum size | 500 px wide, 262 px tall |
| Cards | 2 to 10 |
| Primary text | 40 characters |
How do the cards relate to the safe zone?
The same Reels safe-zone numbers appear on Meta's Reels pages: roughly 14% at the top, 35% at the bottom and 6% on each side. On a 1920-pixel-tall card that leaves most of the useful frame in the middle band. Place the product and any short label there, and leave the lower third empty because the interface covers it.
How do I make a consistent set of cards with Sume?
Call POST /v1/images with model: "sume/auto" and aspect_ratio: "9:16" once per card. Reuse the same style sentence in every prompt so the set reads as one story, and change only the subject line. Send a fresh Idempotency-Key header for each request, since writes require one.
A model's output size varies, so open the first result and compare it to the 1080x1920 target before you generate the other nine. If it falls short, choose a model that returns more pixels.
- Generate 3 cards first and look at them together.
- Keep text off the images and in Meta's 40-character field.
- Keep file sizes under 30 MB; PNG at high resolution can approach it.
Should the cards be images or a clip?
If the product has movement, a short video is a better lead than a card. Use the carousel when the message is a range: colours, sizes or steps. A video clip trimmed with Sume video trim can sit in a separate Reels ad while the carousel carries the catalogue.
Test one against the other with a clean split instead of changing both at once.
