Facebook Reels Collection Ad Specs: Instant Experience Required
Meta lists Facebook Reels collection ads as 9:16 to 1:1, 1080x1080 minimum, 72/10 text limits, with an Instant Experience. See which Sume assets you can make.

What are the Facebook Reels collection ad specs?
The Engagement collection page for Facebook Reels lists images as JPG or PNG and video as MP4, MOV or GIF, with an aspect ratio from 9:16 to 1:1 and a minimum of 1080x1080. Images may be up to 30 MB and video up to 4 GB. Primary text is 72 characters and the headline is 10. A landing URL is required, and so is an Instant Experience. The page does not give a duration or a card count, so I do not state either. I read it on 2026-10-03.
| Field | Meta's value |
|---|---|
| Media | Images (JPG, PNG); video (MP4, MOV, GIF) |
| Aspect ratio | 9:16 to 1:1 |
| Minimum size | 1080x1080 |
| Image / video size | 30 MB / 4 GB |
| Primary text | 72 characters |
| Headline | 10 characters |
| Requirements | Landing URL and Instant Experience |
What does the Instant Experience change?
A collection ad pairs a cover with product tiles that open a full-screen experience. The ad itself is only the front door, so the work splits into two: a cover asset that fits the ratio range, and the experience behind it. Sume produces the first: an image or a clip. The Instant Experience is built in Meta's own tools.
Which assets can I produce with Sume?
For a cover video, trim a clip to length and conform it with output set to a size inside your ratio range, such as 1080x1920. For a cover image, POST /v1/images with aspect_ratio: "9:16" or 1:1. The range is wide, so pick the one you will reuse elsewhere: a 9:16 cover can also serve in Reels placements.
The 10-character headline is the hard limit. Names longer than that need an abbreviation, so test how it reads.
- Produce the cover at 1080 on the short side or more.
- Keep the headline to 10 characters including spaces.
- Check that the landing URL matches the Instant Experience before you submit.
When is a collection worth the setup?
When you sell several products from one creative and a viewer might want to browse. For a single-product launch, a standard Reels ad is simpler. A collection adds a second thing to maintain, and Meta requires the Instant Experience, so budget that time before you commit.
