What does the Top Ads Dashboard offer?

TikTok's help article (last updated May 2025) says you can filter by region, industry, campaign objective, likes and time frame, and on desktop also by ad language and ad format. You can sort by reach, CTR, 2-second view rate and 6-second view rate, plus conversion rate and likes on desktop. You can search a product or keyword, hover to preview, copy an ad link, and star an ad to save it to Collections. 'See Analytics' shows second-by-second engagement graphs, and logged-out users see only five ads. I read the page on 2026-10-03.

Why sort by 2-second and 6-second view rate?

Those two sorts measure how many people stay past the opening. If you want to learn how top ads start, they are the most direct lens in the tool. The second-by-second graph shows where attention drops, which tells you which seconds to study.

How do I turn that into a brief for Sume?

Pick five ads in your industry, save them to a Collection, and note the opening shot, the first words and the length. Write a brief for your own clip from those notes, not a copy of any ad. Use video trim ($0.02 per job) to cut your footage so the hook falls in the first two seconds, and the video frames endpoint to pull stills at chosen times to review your own hook: at[] takes 1 to 24 timestamps and the source can be up to 300 seconds. Frames are billed by Modal compute, so check the current figure before large batches.

  • Study the first two seconds, not the whole ad.
  • Write your own script from the pattern.
  • Do not reuse another advertiser's footage or music.

What are the limits of this method?

The dashboard shows ads that others made, selected by TikTok's ranking. It does not show their budget or targeting. Use it for ideas and test the result on your own account.
