TikTok Video Template Tool: 10-Second Ads From Photos and Free Music
TikTok's Video Template tool turns photos, text and logos into 10-second ads with free background music. See when a Sume timeline gives more control.

What does the Video Template tool do?
TikTok's help article (May 2025) says the tool makes ad videos from photos, text and logos, with 10-second outputs. Categories include product promotion, brand storytelling and app showcasing. It offers thousands of free background music tracks without copyright worry and one-click generation from images. I read the page on 2026-10-03.
| Feature | What TikTok says |
|---|---|
| Inputs | Photos, text, logos |
| Output length | 10 seconds |
| Categories | Product promotion, brand storytelling, app showcasing |
| Music | Thousands of free background tracks |
| Generation | One click from images |
When is the template enough?
For a quick ad from existing product photos, it is the shortest path, and it is inside Ads Manager. If the 10-second length and a template look suit the campaign, use it.
When does a Sume timeline help?
When you need a different length, your own clip order or a specific track. Sume's timeline render takes video[] with 1 to 200 slots, transitions (fade, wipeleft, wiperight, slideup, slidedown, dissolve, up to 1 second), fit modes cover, contain, stretch and blur, and a soundtrack with duck_db. The default output is 1080x1920 MP4, listed at $0.10 per output minute, and /plan is unbilled so you can check the layout first.
For music, POST /v1/music-1.0/generate is $0.125 per generation.
- Use
/planto preview slot timing at no charge. - Use
fit: "cover"to fill the vertical frame. - Set
output.fade_out_secondsfor a clean ending.
Which should I pick?
If you make one ad, the template. If you make many ads with a shared look, a timeline spec you can reuse and change one value at a time.
