Before rendering a multi-clip ad on Sume, call POST /v1/timeline-1.0/plan. It is unbilled, creates no job and reserves no credits, and returns duration_seconds, segment_count, billable_minutes and estimated_cost_usd_micros. The render itself is $0.10 per ceil(output minute). Source: Timeline.

What plan returns

No Idempotency-Key is required for plan.

Timeline plan response fields, from the Sume docs (read 2026-10-03).
FieldMeaning
duration_secondsPlanned output length
segment_countNumber of segments
billable_minutesRounded-up minutes
estimated_cost_usd_microsCost estimate in micro-dollars

Round-up matters

Billing is per started minute, so a 61-second ad bills as two minutes. Trim to 60 seconds if the extra second is not worth it. The plan cannot predict short-source pad or loop warnings.

Plan every variant

Run plan for each variant in a test batch and sum estimated_cost_usd_micros before submitting the real renders.
