The August 2026 Policy Pulse from TikTok Shop names drugs and tobacco or nicotine among its high-risk regulated goods, and says that includes slang and visible smoke or vapor. For AI-generated or stock-heavy product video, a stray cloud in a frame is easy to miss at playback speed, so scan stills before you post.

What the Pulse covers

I read the Policy Pulse summary, not the full policy, so the line between this and a steam shot in a kitchen demo is for the full page and TikTok's reviewers.

Scan the frames

Sample at least one still per second with video inspect. The frames: {fps: 1} program returns up to 24 stills per call; for a longer clip use frames.at for the instants that matter, such as every cut. Raise max_edge (default 768, up to 2160) if you need to see thin haze.

curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/video-inspect \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: scan-001" \
  -d '{"video_url":"https://media.sume.com/artifacts/artf_demo/product.mp4","frames":{"fps":1}}'

What to look for

Check the product itself first, since generated clips sometimes add props. Then look at hands, mouths and the background. Also run the transcript check if the clip has speech: transcribe: true is $0.01 per audio minute and returns text you can search for slang.

If a frame is a problem, cut it out with video trim or regenerate the shot; keep the list of scanned clips with dates in case a review later asks.
