How do I open the TikTok Ads Manager Video Editor?

TikTok's help article (April 2026) gives three routes: Tools, then Video editor; the Ad creatives step of campaign creation; or the Creative Library, Video tab, then Create. The page lists no length, asset-count or format limits, so I do not state any. I read it on 2026-10-03.

What should I bring into the editor?

A finished vertical clip is easier to polish than a raw one. Do the heavy cutting before the editor: trim with Sume video trim ($0.02 per job), burn captions if you want a specific style with POST /v1/video-captions ($0.20 per job) and add a track with the Music endpoint ($0.125 per generation).

Which tool for which edit?

The editor is for last-mile changes inside Ads Manager. A spec-driven edit, such as an exact length, a specific frame rate or a caption style, is better done upstream where you can repeat it. Sume's trim output takes fps of 24, 25, 30 or 60, and the caption styles include tiktok-green and korean-ad, among others.

Both save a new file, so the original stays untouched.

  • Cut and caption first.
  • Use the editor for small fixes.
  • Keep the source clip for later versions.

What does the page leave out?

No limits are listed, so check the editor's own messages when you import a file. If you hit a limit there, record it in your team's notes.
