Why the Sume gap is wider than the board gap

On the board the ratio is 34.12 / 12.00 = 2.84. On Sume it is 34.67 / 7.50 = 4.6 at 720p and 85.29 / 15.00 = 5.7 at 1080p. Wan 3.0 is billed per second with a flat rate for each resolution. Seedance 2.5 is billed per video token, and a 1080p frame is 48,600 tokens per second against 21,600 at 720p.

A pick by job

Use the rule that fits your clip. If two rules fit, take the cheaper model first and spend the extra only after a draft shows what it cannot do.

  • A 2 or 3 second clip: Wan 3.0. Seedance 2.5 starts at 4 seconds on Sume.
  • A 30 second clip at a fixed budget: Wan 3.0 at 720p is $3.75, Seedance 2.5 at 720p is $17.33.
  • Several reference images, clips and audio files in one request: try Seedance 2.5, and run Wan 3.0 as a price check. Both accept image, video and audio references.
  • An edit of an existing clip: neither. Sume's edit mode (video_url) is documented for Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 only.

Run the test

A 13 point gap is a small preference signal. Send the same prompt to both ids at 480p, where 5 seconds cost $0.3125 on Wan 3.0 and $1.3434 on Seedance 2.5, and judge the two clips yourself. The limits-first checklist and the Wan 3.0 price post have the rest.

What a batch costs on each

Take twenty 10 second clips at 720p. Wan 3.0 is 20 x 10 x $0.125 = $25.00. Seedance 2.5 is 20 x $5.778 = $115.56, so the gap is $90.56 for the batch. At 1080p the same batch is $50.00 on Wan 3.0 and $284.31 on Seedance 2.5.

The 13 point Elo gap favors Wan 3.0 and the price favors it too, so Seedance 2.5 has to earn its place on a feature or on a look you can see in your own test clips. If it does, spend it on the final cut only and draft on Wan 3.0 at 480p.

  • Draft at 480p on Wan 3.0: $0.3125 for 5 seconds.
  • Final at 720p on the winner: $0.625 on Wan 3.0 or $2.889 on Seedance 2.5.
  • Three drafts and one Seedance final cost 3 x $0.3125 + $2.889 = $3.83.
