Best AI video model for ads in 2026: check limits, not only Elo
A leaderboard cannot tell you if a model fits your ad length. Sume's docs list per-model limits: 3 to 30 seconds, ratios, and 480p to 4K.

The best AI video model for ads is the highest-ranked one that also fits your clip length, aspect ratio, and resolution, so read the limits before the rating. Hedra's page, read 2026-10-02, ranks Omni Flash at 1,240 Elo, Seedance 2.0 4K at 1,225, HappyHorse-1.1 at 1,149, and Kling 3.0/O3 Pro at 1,110. Ratings say nothing about whether a 20-second vertical ad is possible.
Sume's per-model limits below come from its Video generation and Video Router docs, read 2026-10-02, and the live catalog at GET /v1/videos/models is authoritative.
Which limits matter for ads?
Length, ratio, and resolution. Ads often run 6 to 30 seconds in 9:16, 1:1, or 16:9. The docs list per-model durations that differ a lot, and every other catalog model not named here tops out at 15 seconds.
| Model id | Duration | Resolution and ratio notes |
|---|---|---|
seedance-2.5 | 4 to 30 s | 480p, 720p, 1080p |
minimax-h3 | 5 to 15 s | Native 480p or 768p |
gemini-omni-flash-1.1 | 3 to 10 s | 360p to 4K; 16:9 or 9:16; native audio |
Auto (sume/auto) | 3 to 10 s | Defaults to 720p and 8 s; 16:9 or 9:16 |
What if my ad is longer than the model allows?
Generate scenes and join them, or use a model with a higher ceiling. Check the table before writing the script, not after.
How should I choose among the models that fit?
Test two or three on your own prompts; the bake-off post gives a script. Then compare delivered prices per finished minute, as in normalizing video prices.
Does any of this need Hedra's models?
No. The ratings are a reference for what a third party measured; they are not a list of what Sume serves. Sume's catalog is what its endpoint returns today.
Write your ad spec as a one-line checklist: length, ratio, resolution, audio, number of references. Filter the catalog by it first, then rank what is left by your own tests. A model that fails one line of the spec is out, whatever its rating.
Also check how each model takes inputs. Some accept a first frame, some accept reference images or clips, and the catalog's supported_frame_images and supported_input_references fields say which. A product ad that must start from your packshot needs a first-frame input, and that requirement removes models faster than any rating does.
