A 5-second Runway Gen-4.5 clip is 60 credits, which is $1.15 on Standard, $0.75 on Pro and $0.48 on Max when you use the annual-billing prices on Runway's pricing page. The page lists credits per month for each plan and credits per clip for each video model, so the dollar price of a clip depends on the tier you are on. Bigger plans give a cheaper credit.

Sume has no tier effect of this kind. Per its Video generation doc, each model is reserved at provider list multiplied by 1.25, whatever the size of your balance.

Credit prices from Runway's pricing page, annual-billing prices, read 2026-10-08
PlanMonthly price (billed annually)CreditsPrice per creditGen-4.5 5 s (60 credits)
Standard$12 (listed against $15)62512 / 625 = $0.019260 x 0.0192 = $1.15
Pro$28 (listed against $35)2,25028 / 2,250 = $0.012460 x 0.0124 = $0.75
Max$76 (listed against $95)9,50076 / 9,500 = $0.008060 x 0.0080 = $0.48

At the regular monthly price

The same page shows the higher regular prices that apply without annual billing. Using $15, $35 and $95 for the same credit counts, a credit is $0.0240, $0.0156 and $0.0100, and the 60-credit clip is $1.44, $0.93 and $0.60. Annual billing takes about 20 percent off Standard and Pro and the same 20 percent off Max.

How many clips a month a plan holds is another way to read the ladder: 625 / 60 = 10 clips on Standard, 2,250 / 60 = 37 on Pro and 9,500 / 60 = 158 on Max.

  • Standard: 10 clips for $12, about $1.15 each.
  • Pro: 37 clips for $28, about $0.75 each.
  • Max: 158 clips for $76, about $0.48 each.

What changes on Sume

On Sume the multiplier is the same for every model and every balance. At submit Sume reserves the provider list price times 1.25; the poll response shows usage.cost as the amount Sume bills, and an idempotent replay gets the same price and route. For sume/auto, resolution is a pure function of the request and catalog version, so a retry does not change your price.

The Sume Video generation docs I read do not list Runway Gen-4.5, so there is no like-for-like Sume number for this clip. The comparison to make is structural: Runway reduces the price per credit when you commit to a bigger plan, and Sume does not discount by volume in the docs I read.

Which structure fits

If you generate a few hundred clips a month in a single model, a bigger plan makes the credit cheaper and a flat balance cannot match it. If you generate a few dozen across several models, the plan's cost is mostly unused capacity, and a balance charges only for what ran.

A quick check: divide the plan price by the number of clips you generate. If Max at $76 would give you $0.48 a clip only at 158 clips, but you make 20, you are paying $3.80 per clip.
