Reuse one avatar for 40 clips: the $0.95 fee is paid once
Avatar creation is $0.95 once. Forty 15 second plus clips add $147.00; recreating the avatar for each clip would waste $37.05.
Avatar creation is a one-time $0.95 fee, and the avatar then becomes a reusable resource in your workspace. Forty 15 second videos on the plus tier cost 40 x 15 x $0.245 = $147.00 on top, so the whole campaign is $147.95. Creating a fresh avatar for every clip would add 39 extra fees of $0.95, which is $37.05 you do not need to spend.
How reuse works
The Create your avatar guide describes creation as a job that returns a reusable avatar. The Avatar video guide sends the avatar_handle with each script. A stable handle means your app does not depend on a generated id.
The comparison
The table keeps the clip price fixed and varies how often you create the avatar.
| Approach | Avatar creations | Creation fees | Video cost | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| One avatar, 40 videos | 1 | $0.95 | $147.00 | $147.95 |
| New avatar per video | 40 | $38.00 | $147.00 | $185.00 |
| One avatar per 10 videos | 4 | $3.80 | $147.00 | $150.80 |
When more than one avatar makes sense
The fee is small next to the video cost. One 15 second plus clip is $3.675, so a $0.95 avatar is about 26 percent of one clip. If different presenters help the campaign, creating five avatars costs $4.75, a rounding error against $147.00.
The real saving from reuse is consistency and time, not money. Avoid duplicate creations from retries by sending an Idempotency-Key on creation, so a repeated request does not bill twice.
Planning the 40 clips
Forty clips of 15 seconds on a Pro workspace run four at a time and queue up to 20 more, so the first submit wave of 24 is accepted and the remaining 16 follow as slots free. The creation fee is unaffected by this. What changes is the balance you need at once: 24 clips held at $3.675 each is $88.20.
Use an idempotency key per clip, for instance promo-017, and keep one handle for the whole run. If a clip fails and is retried, the retry reuses the same avatar and the same key, so no second creation or second clip charge is produced.
- Total for the campaign: $0.95 + $147.00 = $147.95.
- Per clip, including the share of the creation fee: $3.699.
- Avatar creation is job-backed, so wait for it to complete before submitting videos.
Break-even view
The creation fee equals about 3.9 seconds of plus video ($0.95 / $0.245 = 3.88), so the fee is small next to any real campaign. The real question is consistency of the presenter, not price.
