Luma Ray3.14 draft mode: three drafts and one 1080p final, in dollars
Luma lists Ray3.14 Draft at 4 credits a second, 1080p at 80. Three drafts plus one 5-second final is 460 credits: $0.77 to $1.38. Sume's Wan route is $2.19.

Three 5-second Ray3.14 Draft clips plus one 5-second 1080p final is 460 credits on Luma: 3 x 20 for the drafts and 400 for the final. That is $1.38 on monthly Plus, $1.04 on Pro and $0.77 on annual Ultra. Making the same four clips all at 1080p would cost 1,600 credits, so the draft step saves 71% of the spend. On Sume, drafting on Wan 3.0 at 480p and finishing at 1080p costs about $2.19 for the same pattern.
That makes draft-then-final the cheap way to iterate on either side, and Luma's plan credits the cheaper place to do it if you hold a plan.
What does each Ray3.14 step cost?
Luma's pricing page lists Ray3.14 text-to-video and image-to-video at 4 credits a second in Draft, 10 at 540p, 20 at 720p and 80 at 1080p. A 5-second clip is therefore 20, 50, 100 or 400 credits. Plus is $30 a month for 10,000 credits ($0.003 each), Pro is $90 for 40,000 ($0.00225) and Ultra is $250 a month billed annually for 150,000 (about $0.001667).
| Step | Credits | Plus, monthly | Pro, monthly | Ultra, annual |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Draft | 20 | $0.06 | $0.045 | $0.033 |
| 540p | 50 | $0.15 | $0.113 | $0.083 |
| 720p | 100 | $0.30 | $0.225 | $0.167 |
| 1080p | 400 | $1.20 | $0.90 | $0.667 |
| 3 drafts + 1 final at 1080p | 460 | $1.38 | $1.04 | $0.77 |
| 4 clips all at 1080p | 1,600 | $4.80 | $3.60 | $2.67 |
What is the same pattern on Sume?
Sume's Video Router lists Wan 3.0 at $0.0625, $0.125 and $0.25 a second at 480p, 720p and 1080p, which is the provider list times 1.25. A 5-second 480p draft is $0.31 and a 5-second 1080p final is $1.25, so three drafts and one final come to $2.19. That is a different model from Ray3.14, so this is a cost pattern rather than a quality comparison.
- Draft 480p: $0.3125 a clip.
- Final 1080p: $1.25 a clip.
- Three drafts plus one final: $2.19, against $5.00 for four 1080p clips.
How many drafts before it stops paying off?
On Luma, a 1080p final costs 20 drafts. If you would otherwise generate the final more than once to find a good take, any number of drafts under about 20 per kept final is cheaper. On Sume the Wan ratio is 4: one 1080p clip costs as much as four 480p drafts, so you break even at four drafts per final. The ratio matters more than the plan.
The wider range of Luma rates, from 4 to 314 credits a second, is in Luma credits per second, 4 to 314. A longer draft-then-render pipeline on Wan is in 18-second AI video API: draft at Wan 480p, then render final.
What should I measure on my own prompts?
Count how many drafts you really make per kept clip over a week. Multiply that by the draft price and add one final. Compare it with your last month's spend.
