Is Runway free? 125 one-time credits, and Sume's Free plan
Runway has a $0 Free plan with 125 one-time credits; Standard is $15 per month. Sume's Free plan covers image generation with no card and 1 concurrent job.

Runway has a free plan, but it is a trial: the pricing page lists Free at $0 with "125 one-time credits to explore Runway's AI tools." Paid plans start at Standard, $15 per month. Sume's Free plan is $0 with no credit card, access to image generation models and one concurrent job; usage on Sume is paid from a USD balance.
What does Runway's Free plan include?
The Free card says "Free forever" and "125 credits", with the credits marked "(one time)". It lists a selection of generative creative models to test concepts and 5GB of asset storage. The Standard card is $15 per month on monthly billing, with 625 credits per month and a note on the page that 625 credits equals 52s of Gen-4.5. Read 2026-10-01 from the pricing page.
So the free allowance does not renew. Once the 125 credits are spent, further generation needs a paid plan.
What does Sume's Free plan include?
The plan grid on the Sume pricing page lists four lines for Free: no credit card required, access to image generation models, limited access on Sume Agent, and 1 concurrent job. The grid deliberately has no credit allotments, because Sume bills each model at its published rate. Concurrency of 1 matches the Free row in Generation admission.
| Runway Free | Sume Free | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $0 | $0 |
| Card needed | Not stated in the text I read | No |
| Allowance | 125 credits, one time | No credit allotment |
| Models | A selection of generative creative models | Image generation models |
| Concurrency | Parallel generations only listed for paid plans | 1 concurrent job |
How do I pay for more usage on Sume?
Generation is billed at each model's published USD rate. A shared wallet can be funded with on-demand purchases from $10 to $1000. The usage docs say "Balance is USD-denominated", and the ledger shows reservations, captures, refunds, top-ups and grants. Funding more does not raise concurrency, which is set by plan.
Which free plan should I try first?
If you want to test Runway's video models once, its 125 credits are the route. If you want a $0 plan for image generation on an API-first service, start on Sume Free. For another free-plan comparison see is HeyGen free.
