Is HeyGen free? What the Free plan includes

Yes, HeyGen is free to start, with limits. Its Free plan costs $0 a month, needs no credit card, and allows up to 3 videos a month, each up to 1 minute long, with limited trial access to Avatar IV, Video Agent and lip-sync translation. Longer videos, 1080p export and watermark removal are listed on the paid plans, which start with Creator at $29 a month.

What does HeyGen's Free plan include?

HeyGen describes Free as an entry point "to test the waters". Its FAQ says you can try HeyGen for free with no credit card, and that the plan includes up to 3 videos per month plus limited trial access to premium features. The plan cards list these items next to the first paid plan:

Does HeyGen's free plan add a watermark?

The pricing page lists "Watermark removal" on the Creator and Pro cards, and the Free card does not list it. It doesn't say in words whether free videos carry one; it lists removal only on paid cards. The same split applies for length. How much does HeyGen cost after the free plan?

The pricing FAQ says Creator costs $29/month (or $24/month if you pay annually), Pro starts at $49/month, and Business costs $149/month plus $20/seat/month. If you cancel a paid plan, you keep its features until the cycle ends; then "your account moves to the Free plan" and unused credits do not carry over. Is the HeyGen API free too?

No. HeyGen's API pricing help article says "HeyGen does not offer free API credits starting Feb 2026." API credits are a pay-as-you-go purchase in USD, separate from the app plans, and the article says any user, "including free users", can buy them. What if I want avatar videos without a monthly video count?

Some buyers outgrow a per-month video count and want to pay per clip instead.
