Add fireworks or confetti to a video with Gemini Omni Flash edit

Try adding fireworks or confetti to a clip with a Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 edit on Sume: prompt wording, light matching, request and what to inspect afterward.

To add fireworks or confetti to an existing clip, send it to Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 as video_url with a single addition: "Add confetti falling from the top of the frame. Keep everything else the same." Google describes adding to existing video as part of Omni's edit mode but publishes no specific list of effects, so test your clip and inspect the frames.

Make the light match

Google's guide says to describe light source and quality. Fireworks create their own light, so mention it: "colored light from the fireworks flickers on faces and the water". Confetti needs only motion words: direction, speed and color. Without light wording the effect tends to look pasted on, so name it.

Request

Sume's edit mode is chosen by video_url: it cannot be combined with image_url, end_image_url or reference_*_urls, takes no aspect_ratio or duration, and resolution defaults to 720p. Native audio is always on.

curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/video-router/generate \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: confetti-edit-001" \
  -d '{
    "model": "gemini-omni-flash-1.1",
    "prompt": "Add confetti falling slowly from the top of the frame, mostly gold and white. Keep everything else the same.",
    "video_url": "https://media.sume.com/artifacts/artf_demo/source.mp4",
    "resolution": "720p",
    "mode": "async"
  }'

Inspect

Sample stills with Video inspect and check that people stay in front of the effect, not behind it, and that nothing was removed. Native audio may add cheering or pops; keep or replace it. Source clips must be 10 seconds or less.
