Cut the clip to 10 seconds or less before you send it to Omni. Google's Omni page says input videos for editing or extension must be 10 seconds or shorter (read 2026-10-03). Sume's POST /v1/video-trim cuts a workspace clip for $0.02 per job, according to the Video trim docs.

Trim limits

Because video_url must be a workspace artifact, a clip that lives elsewhere needs to be imported first. A cut to 10 seconds is well inside the output limit.

Order of operations

Remember Google's regional note: editing or extending uploaded videos is not available in the EEA, Switzerland or the UK (read 2026-10-03).

  • Trim the clip to the section you want to change.
  • Take the trimmed artifact URL from the job result.
  • Send it as video_url to gemini-omni-flash-1.1 with an edit prompt.
