TikTok Shop false display rule from Oct 15: AI product videos
From October 15, 2026 TikTok Shop may deduct up to 20 AHR points for products that differ from the listing. How to keep an AI product video true to the item.

TikTok Shop's Latest Policy Updates page says stricter enforcement for False Display of Information starts October 15, 2026, with Account Health Rating deductions of up to 20 points per violation and possible product deactivation or suspension. The rule is about the product, not the tool, but a generated video can invent details, so anchor it to the real item.
What TikTok says
False Display of Information is when products differ in a significant way from what is shown or described in the listing: product type, quantity, quality, size, material, functionality or other attributes that affect a purchase. Sellers are told to make sure titles, descriptions, images, specifications and key claims accurately reflect the product.
The page gives no video-specific examples for this rule. Whether a video counts as an image or a key claim is TikTok's decision, so treat video as in scope.
| Item | What the page says |
|---|---|
| Effective date | October 15, 2026 |
| Definition | Product differs significantly from the listing |
| Attributes named | Type, quantity, quality, size, material, functionality |
| Account penalty | Up to 20 Account Health Rating points |
| Product penalty | Deactivation or suspension, by severity |
Anchoring generated video to the real product
On POST /v1/videos, frame_images pins an opening frame (image-to-video) and input_references passes reference images that condition the whole clip (reference-to-video). The docs say frame_images wins if both are sent. Use your real product photo in one of them rather than describing the item in text.
That lowers the risk, it does not remove it. A model can still change a label, a count or a size between frames.
A review pass
Pull stills from the finished clip with Video inspect and compare them to the listing photos: count, color, size relation to a hand or table, and any printed claim. Reject a clip where the product changes.
Sume does not verify product accuracy and does not know your listing. The check is yours, and it is cheaper than an AHR deduction.
