Synthesia Pro 2x to 8x: 12,000 to 48,000 credits vs Sume rates
Synthesia's new Pro 2x, 4x, 6x and 8x plans list 12,000 to 48,000 monthly credits. About 120 to 480 video minutes against Sume's $11.04 to $33 per minute.

Synthesia's October 1, 2026 plan change added Pro 2x, 4x, 6x and 8x plans with 12,000, 24,000, 36,000 and 48,000 extra credits a month. At the article's own rate of about 100 credits per video minute, that is roughly 120, 240, 360 and 480 minutes. Sume Avatar 1.0 has no tiers by volume: video is billed per second at $0.184 (Standard), $0.245 (Plus) or $0.55 (Max), which is $11.04, $14.70 or $33.00 a minute without a product image.
The two are not the same product. Synthesia sells long-form presenter video from a subscription. Sume sells clips of 4 to 60 seconds from pay-as-you-go rates. The table puts both in minutes so you can see where the gap sits.
The new plan ladder
The article also says Creator is now called Pro with identical pricing and features, that prices are unchanged, and that every plan gets 500 credits, 10 minutes of video and 3 survey responses a month plus 60 minutes of Interactive Avatar once at signup. The multiplier plans are self-serve. The pages I read give no price for 2x through 8x, so the dollar column below is only filled where a price was published.
| Plan | Credits a month (as listed) | Approx. video minutes | Listed monthly price | Same minutes on Sume Standard |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pro | 6,000 | 60 | $89 | $662.40 |
| Pro 2x | 12,000 | 120 | Not stated on the pages read | $1,324.80 |
| Pro 4x | 24,000 | 240 | Not stated on the pages read | $2,649.60 |
| Pro 6x | 36,000 | 360 | Not stated on the pages read | $3,974.40 |
| Pro 8x | 48,000 | 480 | Not stated on the pages read | $5,299.20 |
What the comparison hides
At $89 for about 60 minutes, Synthesia's own numbers work out to roughly $1.48 a minute on Pro monthly billing. Sume Standard is $11.04 a minute, about seven times that. If you make hours of avatar video a month in the Synthesia editor, a subscription is the cheaper unit.
The subscription rewards steady volume and a person using the editor. The Sume rate rewards spiky or API-driven use: no seat, no monthly floor, and you pay only for clips you render. A team that renders 30 clips of 20 seconds in a month is 10 minutes. That is $110.40 on Sume Standard, and it fits inside the 10 free monthly minutes that Synthesia now gives every plan.
Where Sume's per-clip limit matters
Sume accepts scripts or multi-scene plans that estimate to 4 to 60 seconds per job. A 10-minute training video is ten or more jobs, which you join yourself; see the 3-minute presenter example for the join step and cost. The ladder above is therefore a poor fit if your unit of work is a single long take.
Before you buy a multiplier plan, check that the credits cover dubbing and Sessions too. The article prices dubbing with lip-sync at 80 credits a minute and a survey response at 350 credits, so mixed use burns the pool faster than video alone.
