Synthesia credits cost $0.0107 to $0.0232 each, by plan and billing
Synthesia's page works out to $0.0107 per credit on Pro annual and $0.0232 on Starter monthly, about 100 credits per extra video minute. Sume bills per second.

From Synthesia's pricing page, a credit costs $0.0232 on Starter monthly, $0.0148 on Pro monthly, $0.0144 on Starter annual and $0.0107 on Pro annual. The page also implies about 100 credits per extra video minute, which makes Pro annual about $1.07 a minute. Sume bills by the second at $0.184 to $0.55 for avatar video, so the units do not line up; convert both to dollars per finished minute.
The credit ladder
Prices and credits are as shown on the page. The per-credit column is my division. Annual plans list the credits as a yearly total.
| Plan | Price | Credits | Per credit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter, monthly | $29 a month | 1,250 a month | $0.0232 |
| Starter, annual | $216 a year ($18/month) | 15,000 a year | $0.0144 |
| Pro, monthly | $89 a month | 6,000 a month | $0.0148 |
| Pro, annual | $768 a year ($64/month) | 72,000 a year | $0.0107 |
Credits to minutes
The page lists about 12 additional minutes on Starter monthly, about 150 on Starter annual, about 60 on Pro monthly and about 720 on Pro annual. Divide credits by minutes and every paid plan lands at roughly 100 credits a minute. Basic lists 500 credits for 10 minutes, which would be 50 a minute, so the free plan is the odd one out.
That ties the credit price to a minute price: $1.07 on Pro annual up to $2.32 on Starter monthly by my calculation, with the tilde in the page's own wording.
Against Sume
Sume's catalog rates work out to $11.04, $14.70 and $33.00 for a finished minute at standard, plus and max. The ten-fold gap is large, but the products differ. A seat-based studio plan includes an editor and templates. A Sume avatar job is a single API render with no seat, and it caps at 60 seconds per job.
The honest summary is that for steady, long-form volume a minutes bundle is the cheaper unit. For bursts of short clips, or when an agent or script calls the API, per-second billing avoids buying a pool. The avatar video guide gives the exact request shape.
Billing choice matters
Annual billing cuts the credit price by about 38 percent on Starter and 28 percent on Pro, by my division. That is a commitment you pay up front, so it is cheaper only if you use the credits. A month-to-month plan costs more per credit and carries less risk.
