Tavus extra replicas $65 on Starter, $40 on Growth: 100 faces vs Sume
Tavus lists $65 per additional custom replica on Starter and $40 on Growth. A hundred replicas is $6,305 or $3,720 by the page; 100 Sume avatars cost $95.00.
On Tavus's developer pricing page, Starter ($59 a month) includes 3 custom replicas and charges $65 for each additional one. Growth ($397 a month) includes 7 and charges $40. For 100 replicas that is 3 plus 97 times $65, or $6,305 on Starter, and 7 plus 93 times $40, or $3,720 on Growth, before any plan fee. Sume creates 100 avatars for $95.00 flat.
The Tavus numbers
Read on 2026-10-07. The page text does not say whether the per-replica charge repeats monthly, so I am treating each as a one-time price.
| Plan | Plan price | Included custom replicas | Each additional |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $0 | 25 stock replicas | not listed |
| Starter | $59 a month | 3 | $65 |
| Growth | $397 a month | 7 | $40 |

What a Sume avatar is
The create avatar guide lists three inputs: a prompt, structured profile traits or a reference image. It bills a flat $0.95 per avatar at the catalog rate. It is a new identity created from your input, not necessarily a trained model of a specific person's video.
That difference matters. A Tavus replica is trained for live conversation. A Sume avatar is a handle for rendered clips, which cost $0.184 to $0.55 a second after creation.
How to compare fairly
Compare the total cost of a working presenter, not the creation price. A Sume avatar plus five 30-second clips on plus is $0.95 + $36.75 = $37.70. A Tavus replica carries its plan fee and then its own call or video minutes, which the page lists separately.
If the question is how many distinct faces you can afford, Sume's creation price removes that limit. If the question is a live agent that can hold a conversation, Sume does not do that, and a replica is the right object.
What I could not read
The page text does not say how long a replica takes to train, whether the per-replica price repeats monthly, or what a replica costs to use in a call beyond the plan's minutes. Ask Tavus those three questions before you use the numbers in a business case.
