Shopify product video limit: 1 GB, 10 minutes, and Sume clip lengths
Shopify.dev lists 1 GB and 10 minutes as the product video maximum. Sume clips run 2 to 30 seconds per request; Timeline can join up to 1800 seconds.

Shopify's product media page lists a 1 GB and 10 minute maximum for product videos. A single Sume video request runs at most 30 seconds (seedance-2.5 and wan-3.0 up to 30, others 15 or less), so only a Timeline join of many clips can reach the 10 minute line.
What does Shopify list for product video?
From Shopify.dev's product media page, read on 2026-09-30.
| Item | Shopify lists | Sume side |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum length | 10 minutes | Single request: 2 to 30 seconds by model |
| Maximum file size | 1 GB | Not published for outputs |
| Maximum resolution | 3840x2160 (UHD/4K) | Video tiers listed up to 4K on some models |
| Formats | MP4, MOV, WEBM | Timeline returns MP4 |
How long is one Sume video request?
seedance-2.5 accepts 4 to 30 seconds and wan-3.0 accepts 2 to 30 seconds. Every other catalog model tops out at 15 seconds, and gemini-omni-flash-1.1 accepts 3 to 10 seconds. Shopify's 10 minute line is far above any single request.
Can I build a video near 10 minutes?
Timeline 1.0 accepts an audio spine of 1 to 1800 seconds and 1 to 200 video slots, so a long join is possible, and 1800 seconds is over Shopify's 600 second line. Cap audio.duration_seconds at 600. Sources must be on media.sume.com, and the unbilled /plan shows duration_seconds before you spend anything.
curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/timeline-1.0/plan \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"audio": { "mode": "silence", "duration_seconds": 600 },
"video": [
{ "source_url": "https://media.sume.com/artifacts/artf_demo/a.mp4",
"start": 0, "duration": 300 },
{ "source_url": "https://media.sume.com/artifacts/artf_demo/b.mp4",
"start": 300, "duration": 300 }
]
}'What about the 1 GB file size?
The Sume docs do not publish an output file size for generated video, so measure the finished file before upload. If it is too large, shorten it or lower the resolution; Shopify's page in 2026-09-30 names the limit and not a fix.
