With Shopify's Next Gen Events, now generally available in API version 2026-10, one delivery can carry everything a Sume submit needs, so your handler can start one product-video job without first calling the Admin API. Shopify says Events means fewer deliveries, richer payloads and no follow-up queries, with subscriptions declared in shopify.app.toml as triggers, a GraphQL query and an optional query filter.

The Shopify facts are from its GA announcement and the earlier payloads notice; the Sume side is from Jobs and results and Generation admission, all read 2026-10-03. I did not run a subscription.

What does Shopify say is new?

Events is described as a declarative replacement for classic webhooks, generally available across 18 topics covering merchandising, orders, inventory, content management and custom data types. Existing webhook integrations keep working, and you can migrate gradually or run both.

Events pieces from Shopify's GA announcement, read 2026-10-03, next to the Sume piece each feeds.

What should the handler do with a delivery?

Authenticate the delivery the way Shopify documents (not covered in the pages I read), store it, derive an Idempotency-Key from the resource and the Sume request body, and submit with mode: "webhook" or async. Do not rely on Shopify's removed delivery headers for the key. Then let Sume tell you: a job webhook is terminal-only, with job.completed, job.failed or job.canceled, and you should keep status_url polling as the backup.

Pace the submits. Sume accepts valid jobs as queued while queue capacity remains and answers 429 queue_full when it does not, so a bulk catalog change that matches many products can fill the queue; check generation_limits.queue_capacity_remaining and stop adding work when it is low.
