Shopify's video limit by plan: 250 to 100,000 files, what to keep

Shopify counts video and 3D files per store by plan: 250 on Starter up to 100,000 on Enterprise. How to decide which product clips are worth keeping.

Shopify's file upload page caps the combined number of videos and 3D models per store by plan: 250 on Starter, 1,000 on Grow, 5,000 on Advanced, 50,000 on Plus and 100,000 on Enterprise. A seller who generates several clips per product for a holiday catalog can reach a low cap sooner than expected. Sume produces the clips, so the keep-or-drop decision falls on you before upload.

The limits

Per Shopify's page, these limits apply to files stored in your store, and the page notes the limits do not apply to YouTube or Vimeo embeds.

Count before you generate

A catalog of 200 products with three clips each is 600 files. On Starter that is more than twice the cap, and on Grow it already uses 60% of the count. Multiply products by variants before you queue a batch.

Sume's bulk runs take up to 100 items per request, and a variant strategy that creates a clip per caption text multiplies quickly. Keep one clean master per product in Shopify, and keep the offer-text variants for ad platforms where the file goes directly, not in the store.

  • Upload only the clip that appears on the product page.
  • Keep ad variants outside the store.
  • Use video trim to cut one long master into the single length you need, at $0.02 per job.

Limits

Shopify's page is the authority on plan caps and may change. Sume cannot upload to Shopify or read your store's count. The same page lists per-file limits such as 1 GB and 10 minutes, which are separate from the count.
