Seedance 2.5 at 1080p costs 2.5x the 720p price, not 2.25x
Going from 720p to 1080p on a 10-second Seedance 2.5 clip raises the Sume price from $5.78 to $14.22: pixels grow 2.25x, and the 1080p rate is higher too.

The obvious guess is that 1080p costs 2.25 times as much as 720p, because 1920 x 1080 has 2.25 times the pixels of 1280 x 720. On Seedance 2.5 the real ratio is about 2.46, because the per-token rate also changes. Sume's pricing table lists $0.0214 per 1,000 video tokens at 480p and 720p and $0.0234 at 1080p for seedance-2.5, and the 1080p row is the only place that rate applies.
Worked out for 10 seconds, 16:9
Tokens are width x height x seconds x 24 / 1024. At 720p that is 216,000 tokens. At 1080p it is 486,000, which is exactly 2.25 times more. Then the rate: 216,000 x $0.0214 / 1,000 = $4.62 at 720p, and 486,000 x $0.0234 / 1,000 = $11.37 at 1080p. Add the 1.25 multiple and round up to the cent.
| Resolution | Tokens | Rate per 1,000 | Sume billable |
|---|---|---|---|
| 720p | 216,000 | $0.0214 | $5.78 |
| 1080p | 486,000 | $0.0234 | $14.22 |
When 1080p is worth it
The reserve for a job is taken up front, so a wallet that comfortably holds a 720p batch can still return 402 insufficient_credits on one 1080p clip.
- Draft at 480p or 720p, finish only the take you will ship at 1080p. Seedance has no seed field on this API, so a final is a new take, not a re-render of the draft.
- Do not pay the 1080p premium for a clip headed to a 1080 x 1920 phone feed that the platform recompresses anyway; check the destination first.
- For a 30-second 1080p clip the same arithmetic gives 1,458,000 tokens, which is why a single long final needs a large wallet balance at submit time.

The numbers above come from the rates in Sume's pricing code and the Video Router docs, which tell you to read capabilities from the catalog instead of assuming one envelope. The fal page for the model gives the 720p formula and examples such as 5 seconds at about $2.31 (read 2026-10-05).
