Why Seedance 2.5 at 1080p costs 2.46x its 720p price, not 2.25x
1080p has 2.25x the pixels of 720p, yet Seedance 2.5 on Sume costs 2.46x as much. The 1080p tier has its own list rate. Prices for 4, 5, 10 and 30 s.

Seedance 2.5 at 1080p costs about 2.46 times the 720p price on Sume, not 2.25 times. 1080p has 2.25x the pixels and so 2.25x the tokens, but the repo applies a higher list rate to 1080p ($0.0234 per 1,000 tokens against $0.0214). A 5 s clip is $2.89 at 720p and $7.11 at 1080p.
Two multipliers stack
Seedance bills per video token, and tokens scale with pixels. 1920x1080 is 2,073,600 pixels. 1280x720 is 921,600. That is 2.25x.
On top of that, pricing-normalize.ts swaps in SEEDANCE_25_1080P_USD_MICROS_PER_1000_TOKENS (23,400) when the model is seedance-2.5 and the resolution is 1080p. Every other Seedance family and tier uses the base rate. The ratio of rates is 1.093, and 2.25 x 1.093 gives 2.46.
The ladder at 16:9
Every figure is list x 1.25, rounded up to the cent, computed from the repo's frame sizes (864x496, 1280x720, 1920x1080).
| Duration | 480p | 720p | 1080p | 1080p / 720p |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 s | $1.08 | $2.31 | $5.69 | 2.46x |
| 5 s | $1.35 | $2.89 | $7.11 | 2.46x |
| 10 s | $2.69 | $5.78 | $14.22 | 2.46x |
| 30 s | $8.07 | $17.34 | $42.65 | 2.46x |
When 1080p is worth it
For a social ad that plays on a phone, 720p is often enough, and the seconds you save go to more takes. Use 1080p when the clip will be cut into a larger edit, shown on a big screen, or reframed (a 1080p 16:9 clip leaves room to crop to 9:16).
Compare with other models before you choose. Wan 3.0 at 1080p is $0.25 per second on Sume, so 5 s is $1.25, and it reaches 30 s too. See our wallet note for how far $10 goes.
A cheap draft routine
Submit the idea at 480p with duration 4 or 5. If the take works, you still cannot re-render it at higher resolution: seed is rejected with a 400 on /v1/videos, so the final is a new generation. Keep the prompt and references identical, and treat the draft as a prompt test only.
Budget the final as its own line item. The reserve on submit is the full estimate, so a 30 s 1080p job needs $42.65 free in the workspace balance before it starts.
Use the ratio in your budget
If you already have a 720p budget, multiply it by 2.46 to estimate the same set at 1080p. A 20-clip run of 10 s clips costs $115.60 at 720p and $284.40 at 1080p on this arithmetic. The rule of thumb that 1080p is about two and a half times 720p is right for this model, and wrong for rows that use one flat per-second rate across tiers.
Wan 3.0 is a useful contrast: its tiers are $0.0625, $0.125 and $0.25 per second, a straight doubling per step. Gemini Omni Flash goes $0.125, $0.1875 and $0.375 from 720p to 4K. Always read the tier ladder per model.
