Room restyle with a moodboard on Ideogram 4.5: photo goes first
On Sume the first input_references image is the room being edited and later ones are style references. Send photo, then moodboard, and omit aspect_ratio.

To restyle a room from a moodboard on Ideogram 4.5, put the room photo first in input_references and the moodboard second. Sume treats the first image as the one to edit and the rest, up to four more, as references, so a swapped order edits your moodboard instead of your room.
The slot rule
The Image API docs say that with references, Ideogram 4.5 edits the first image and uses up to 4 more as references, 5 in total (Image API docs). Fal's page for the edit endpoint has the same split of one image_url and up to four reference_image_urls (read 2026-10-05). A sixth image is a 400.
| Slot | Role | Example |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | The image that is edited | your room photo |
| 2 | Style reference | moodboard collage |
| 3 | Style reference | fabric or tile close-up |
| 4 and 5 | Style references | optional extra shots |
Request
No aspect_ratio is sent, so the result keeps the room's own shape. Name what must stay: windows, floor, camera angle.
import os, requests
room = "https://example.com/room.jpg"
board = "https://example.com/moodboard.jpg"
r = requests.post(
"https://api.sume.com/v1/images",
headers={"Authorization": f"Bearer {os.environ['SUME_API_KEY']}"},
json={
"model": "ideogram/ideogram-v4.5",
"prompt": "Restyle the room in the first image using the second image as the style. Keep walls, windows, floor plan and camera angle.",
"input_references": [{"image_url": {"url": u}} for u in (room, board)],
},
timeout=120,
)
print(r.status_code, r.json().get("usage"))Cost and iteration
At the default medium quality an Ideogram 4.5 call is $0.075 billed on Sume, and low is $0.0375, so a first pass to check the style can be cheap. A 2K request with no ratio does not make the picture bigger, as it is ignored on edits.
Limits
A moodboard collage is read as one picture, so a busy board gives a muddled result. Use one style idea per reference. Furniture layout can still change in a restyle, so say what stays fixed in the prompt and compare the output against the original. If you need to change only the wall or the floor and leave everything else alone, a model that takes mask_url is the better tool.
A short prompt checklist
Name what stays: the room's walls, windows, floor and camera angle. Name what changes: colours, materials and furniture style, in words that match the board. Ask for one style per call.
If the first result takes only some of the board, add a single reference of the missing material, such as a tile or a fabric close-up, in slot three. That is cheaper and clearer than a second collage, and the slot rule stays the same: the room is first.
Save the room photo URL once and reuse it as slot one in every call. Then a client who wants to see the same room in three styles gets three images from the same starting pixels, and any difference between them comes from the board and the prompt rather than from a new upload.
