Cutout cost for 1,000 product photos

Photoroom lists Remove Background at $0.02 an image, so 1,000 photos is $20. Sume's docs give no cutout price; preflight with dry_run or read the catalog.

At Photoroom's listed $0.02 an image, 1,000 product cutouts cost $20 before plan fees. The Sume documentation read for this post lists the cutout tool, rmbg_create, but states no price for it, so get the Sume number from a dry_run preflight or the live catalog instead of from this page.

What Photoroom lists

The Photoroom API product updates page lists Remove Background at $0.02 per image after a 90% cut, with plans from $20. Image Editing API Plus is $0.10 per image, with plans from $100, and a rate of 500 images per minute per user. Check the page is still current before you rely on it.

Where Sume's cutout lives

On hosted MCP, cutouts are rmbg_create, a paid tool that needs idempotency_key. The docs list it beside image_upscale_create and video_upscale_create. Under OAuth it needs the mcp:write scope; with mcp:read only it returns insufficient_scope. It is documented for stills. For video, see the Firefly post in this batch.

Get the real number before a batch

Paid MCP calls accept an optional dry_run that preflights cost, and an optional max_spend_usd that is enforced only when you pass it. Run one dry_run on a representative photo, multiply by your count, and set max_spend_usd on the real batch. The catalog (catalog_list over MCP, GET /v1/catalog over HTTP) lists the public API capabilities.

Compare on the same terms

A fair per-1,000 comparison needs the same basis on both sides: price per image, any plan fee, rate limits, and whether failed or retried images are billed. Photoroom's page states a rate limit; for Sume, read how admission and queue limits apply to your plan in Generation admission. Check output quality on your own product photos, including edges and shadows, before comparing on price.
