Micro-drama episode of 60 seconds on Seedance 2.5: $34.68 either way

A 60-second 9:16 micro-drama costs about $34.68 at 720p on Sume whether you run 2 jobs of 30 s or 12 of 5 s. Why the split changes retakes, not the bill.

A 60-second vertical micro-drama episode costs about $34.68 on Seedance 2.5 at 720p on Sume, however you cut it: two 30-second jobs, four 15-second jobs or twelve 5-second beats. Video tokens scale with seconds, so the price barely moves; the difference is how much you redo when one beat fails.

Micro-dramas are reported to be rising across TikTok, Reels and Shorts (HeyOrca, secondary source, read 2026-10-07). The format runs on short scenes with a hook and a cliffhanger, which fits short jobs.

One minute, five ways to split it

5 x 12 s5$6.94$34.70$6.94

Splitting for continuity

Seedance 2.5 on Sume has no seed, so a redone job is a new draw, and a face may not match the one in the neighbouring shot. Two things protect continuity: send the same character images as input_references on every job, and start the next job from the last frame of the previous one with a first_frame. Sume's video frames model can pull a still from the last second of a finished clip.

Short beats cost more in joins and in drift: twelve jobs means eleven cuts that must match. Thirty-second jobs mean a long take where one wrong second costs $17.34. A middle split of 12 to 15 seconds is a sensible default for a scene.

What not to ask of the video model

Sound and dialogue are a separate question: Seedance clips can carry generated audio, but lines of dialogue are better served by an avatar or a voice track; see the related post on picking by lines of dialogue.
