What are the Instagram Feed collection ad specs?

Meta's Instagram Feed collection page lists an aspect ratio from 1.91:1 to 1:1, a minimum of 1080x1080 with at least 500 px on any dimension, images up to 30 MB and video up to 4 GB. Primary text is 125 characters and the headline is 40. An Instant Experience is required, using the Storefront or Customer Acquisition templates or a custom build. I read the page on 2026-10-03.

Why is the range a trap?

A range from 1.91:1 to 1:1 means a 4:5 portrait is outside it. A designer who defaults to the Instagram 4:5 frame will produce the wrong cover. Keep the height at or below the square and check the wide end of the range as well.

How do I produce a cover with Sume?

A square image: POST /v1/images with aspect_ratio: "1:1". A wide cover: aspect_ratio: "16:9" is the nearest listed ratio to 1.91:1, but it is not the same, so crop or check before submitting. Video can be conformed by trim with output of 1080x1080, and the filter endpoint's crop op can take a horizontal band from a wider source using fractions of the frame.

A trim is $0.02 per job, and writes need an Idempotency-Key header.

  • Use 1:1 as the safe middle.
  • Check the delivered pixels against 1080x1080.
  • Keep the headline within 40 characters.

What belongs in the Instant Experience?

Meta's page names a Storefront and a Customer Acquisition template. Pick Storefront for a catalogue of items and Customer Acquisition when the goal is to collect a lead. Prepare the product images ahead of the build, in the same ratio, so the tiles look consistent.
