Higgsfield AI vs Runway: apps, API, models and pricing
Higgsfield and Runway both sell a creative app and a video API billed in credits. How their models, API billing and job flow compare, from their pages.

Higgsfield and Runway both sell a creative app and a developer API over many image and video models, and both bill in credits. Runway's API sells credits at $0.01 each and prices each video model per second of output; Higgsfield's API runs on a pay-as-you-go balance, charges successful requests only, and prices each model separately. Runway also has its own flagship models, Gen-4.5 and Aleph 2.0.
Every Higgsfield and Runway fact below comes from that vendor's own pages, read on 2026-09-28 and listed under Sources. Higgsfield's plan page did not render its prices as text that day, and its API site lists per-model rates without a currency sign, so its subscription prices and per-model rates are left out. This post compares access and billing, not output quality.
How do Higgsfield and Runway compare?
At the API level they look alike: submit a job, get an id, then poll or take a callback. The differences are in billing and in whose models you get.
| Item | Higgsfield | Runway |
|---|---|---|
| What it sells | An “AI-native creative suite” plus an API platform | App plans “from $12/month” plus a developer API, Runway Dev |
| Own models | Cinema Studio 4.0 and Marketing Studio Image on its API site | Gen-4.5 and Aleph 2.0, which it calls its flagship models |
| Seedance on both API lists | Seedance 2.5, Seedance 2.0 | seedance2_5, seedance2 |
| API billing | Pay-as-you-go balance; pay per generation in credits | Credits at $0.01 each, bought per project in the developer portal |
| Price unit | Per model; an estimate endpoint returns credits and USD before you submit | Credits per second of video, set per model and resolution |
| Not charged | Requests ending failed or nsfw | Not stated on the pages read |
| Job flow | request_id, status_url, cancel_url; poll or hf_webhook | Create a task, then fetch its status by task ID |
| SDKs | Python and Node.js / TypeScript | Node.js and Python |
What do Runway's app plans include?
Runway's pricing page lists a Free plan at $0 with 125 one-time credits, Standard at $15 a month ($12 billed annually) with 625 credits a month, Pro at $35 ($28 billed annually) with 2,250 credits, and Max at $95 ($76 billed annually) with 9,500 credits (Runway pricing). Its Standard and Pro plans name Kling 3.0 and Nano Banana Pro among the models in the app. App credits and API credits are sold separately: the API's credits are bought for a project in the developer portal (API pricing).
How much does image to video cost on each API?
On Runway, it depends on the model and resolution. seedance2_5 costs 20 credits per second of output at 480p, 30 at 720p and 68 at 1080p, plus a charge for input and reference video and an 80-credit minimum; gen4.5 costs 12 credits per second (API pricing). Requests through a Runway Model Router bill at the rate of the model the router picks. Runway API pricing per second turns these into dollars.
On Higgsfield, send the same parameters to its estimate endpoint first: it returns the credits and USD for that request on your account, and the docs call that figure authoritative (billing). Credits expire one year after they are added.
Where does Sume fit?
If you are comparing them for video models behind one API key, Sume's POST /v1/videos is another option: bare catalog ids such as seedance-2.5, a job id and polling URL on submit, and each job reserved from a workspace USD balance at the provider's list price × 1.25 (Video generation). Sume vs Higgsfield compares it with Higgsfield.
Which should I pick?
- Pick Runway if you want its own Gen-4.5 or Aleph 2.0 models, per-second credit prices you can read in advance, or a Model Router that chooses the model per request.
- Pick Higgsfield if your team already works in its creative apps and wants an API from the same vendor, with failed and moderated requests not charged.
- For Seedance 2.5 or Seedance 2.0, both APIs list them: price the same resolution and length on each before you commit.
- Keep keys server-side on both. Higgsfield says not to expose its secret in browser or mobile code.
