Hedra MCP for Claude, and how Sume's hosted MCP connects
Hedra's MCP and CLI let Claude and other agents generate images, video and audio. Sume's hosted MCP lives at mcp.sume.com/mcp with write and paid gates.

Hedra's MCP, announced August 31, 2026, connects Claude, ChatGPT and other agents to Hedra's image, video and audio models, and saves what you make to your Hedra library. Sume runs its own hosted MCP endpoint at https://mcp.sume.com/mcp, which Claude Code adds with one command.
Hedra's description is from its blog post; Sume's from the MCP quickstart and MCP tools and gates, read 2026-09-30.
What does Hedra's MCP cover?
Per the post, the MCP connects a chat agent such as Claude or ChatGPT to Hedra, and each person signs in with their Hedra account the first time. A separate CLI runs in a terminal, for you or a coding agent like Claude Code or Codex, and returns a file (for example via hedra-cli jobs submit). The post lists Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and Hermes as clients.
How do I connect Claude to Sume's MCP?
The production URL is https://mcp.sume.com/mcp. In Claude Code:
claude mcp add --transport http sume https://mcp.sume.com/mcp
claude mcp login sumeWhat can the Sume tools do, and what is gated?
The server lets agents call Sume account, catalog, job, asset, generation, crawl and Avatar tools. By default a session has read-only visibility under OAuth mcp:read; mutating and paid tools stay hidden until the session has mcp:write or an API key. Write and paid tools require an idempotency_key. Paid avatar tools include avatars_create and avatar-videos_create.
| Item | Hedra (blog post) | Sume (docs) |
|---|---|---|
| Generates | Images, video and audio | Video, audio, images, avatars via catalog tools |
| Sign-in | Hedra account on first use | OAuth, or an API key |
| Spend control | Not covered in the post | mcp:write scope plus idempotency_key |
| Companion | CLI for terminals | HTTP API at api.sume.com |
What should I check first after connecting?
Ask Claude to call tools_list or mcp_health, as the quickstart suggests, and confirm the session scopes before any paid call. Use a permission rule for paid tools; see Claude Code ask rule for paid MCP tools. A comparable walkthrough for another vendor is in HeyGen MCP server for Claude.
