The Merchant Center video_link attribute needs a video between 6 and 240 seconds long. If your clip is longer, cut it to a length inside that range; Sume's Video trim takes one clip plus a start and an end or duration and returns a new MP4.

Google's requirements are from its Help page, read 2026-09-30. Cut behavior is from Sume's Video trim docs.

What does Google require for video_link?

Length is one of several minimums on the page. The attribute was introduced on April 14, 2026; per a third-party report on Google's spec changes, videos became eligible to serve on June 30, 2026, when policy and quality checks began.

How do I check the length first?

Run the clip through Video inspect (POST /v1/video-inspect). Its description says it probes one Sume-hosted video for duration, size, rotation, fps, codecs, audio and HDR. If the duration is already between 6 and 240 seconds you may not need to cut at all.

How do I cut a clip to fit?

Send video_url (a media.sume.com clip in your workspace), start, and exactly one of end or duration. duration is the length of the cut in seconds, 0.2 to 900, so a 30-second cut is a single field. An Idempotency-Key is required. The default precision is exact, a frame-accurate re-encode.

The result is a new artifact: video_url is a new artf_ and never the source, so the original stays untouched. Check the live price in the catalog or the docs page rather than assuming it.

What does Sume not do here?

Sume makes the file. The docs describe no Merchant Center push, so you still add the resulting URL to your feed yourself. For still frames instead of video, see product video stills for Merchant Center.
