Amazon A+ video text module: an 800x600 preview from your clip
PremiumVideoTextModule needs a video preview image of at least 800x600. Extract that still from your own Sume clip with the unbilled video frames call.

The PremiumVideoTextModule needs a video with a preview image of at least 800 by 600 pixels. Take that still from your own clip: send the clip's media.sume.com URL and the time you want to POST /v1/video-frames, and read the width and height of what comes back. The docs describe frame extraction as unbilled.
Amazon's numbers are from its A+ Premium modules page; frame facts are from the video frames docs, read 2026-10-01.
What does the module need?
A video next to text: a headline of 1 to 80 characters, an optional title up to 40 characters, and an optional description of up to 5 items, 500 characters combined. The video can sit left or right via positionType.
How do I pull the preview still?
The request needs video_url (this workspace's media.sume.com artifact) and exactly one of at[] or fps. Submit returns 202; read the result at GET /v1/video-frames/{id}. Each frame comes back as {t,url,width,height}, a durable image. Pick a second where the product is clear, not a transition.
curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/video-frames \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-H "Idempotency-Key: preview-video-text-001" \
-d '{
"video_url": "https://media.sume.com/artifacts/artf_demo/product.mp4",
"at": [3.0, 6.0]
}'Will the frame meet 800x600?
It depends on your clip, because without max_edge the frame keeps the source frame size. max_edge is a long-edge clamp between 16 and 2160, so it can only shrink a frame. Compare the returned width and height with 800 and 600; Amazon's rule is a minimum, not an exact size.
The related guide extract video frames API covers fps mode and the failure case where one instant returns a null url.
What are the numbers to check?
Two sizes matter for this module, and both come from different places.
| Item | Value | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Video preview image minimum | 800 x 600 px | Amazon A+ Premium modules |
max_edge | 16 to 2160, long-edge clamp | Sume video frames docs |
| Frame selector | Exactly one of at[] or fps | Sume video frames docs |
| Billing | Unbilled | Sume video frames docs |
Why extract two frames?
Ask for a second candidate with the same call. Frames are not billed, so the cost of choosing the better still is only your time.
