85 listing photos, cutout plus upscale: $18.91 at $0.2225 each on Sume
Background removal is $0.0225 and an image upscale $0.20 on Sume, so 85 photos cost 85 x $0.2225 = $18.9125 for both steps, or $1.91 for cutouts only.

Removing the background costs $0.0225 per image and upscaling costs $0.20 per image on Sume. Eighty-five listing photos therefore cost 85 x $0.2225 = $18.9125 for both steps, $1.9125 for cutouts only and $17.00 for upscales only.
Rates
Both rates are on the API pricing page, and the Models overview lists the matching tools. The image upscale rate reserves about 16 megapixels of generative output; the cutout is one image per generation.
| Steps | Per photo | 85 photos |
|---|---|---|
| Cutout only | $0.0225 | $1.9125 |
| Upscale only | $0.20 | $17.00 |
| Cutout then upscale | $0.2225 | $18.9125 |
Order and selection
Upscaling costs almost nine times a cutout, so filter photos before you upscale. If 30 of the 85 are already sharp enough, upscale only 55: 55 x $0.20 = $11.00, plus 85 cutouts at $1.9125, for $12.91, a saving of $6.00.
Run the cutout first on a few photos and inspect them. A bad cutout wastes only 2.25 cents; a bad upscale wastes 20 cents.
Concurrency
A Pro workspace runs four jobs at once and accepts 24, so 170 jobs take several waves. A Free workspace runs one at a time and accepts 6. The price does not change with the plan; only the time does.
Why the order matters
Cutout first, upscale second is the cheaper order only if the upscale input is already clean. Upscaling a photo and then removing the background costs the same $0.2225 per photo, because the rates are flat per image. The difference is quality: an upscale of a cleaned cutout does not enhance background pixels you will throw away.
There is no volume discount in the published rates. 85 photos cost 85 times one photo, and 850 cost ten times 85. That linearity makes the budget easy: multiply the photo count by $0.2225 and add a margin for retakes.
- Retake budget of 10 percent: 9 more photos, $2.00.
- Cutouts alone for 85 photos: $1.91.
- Both steps for 850 photos: $189.13.
| Photos | Cutouts | Upscales | Both |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 | $0.45 | $4.00 | $4.45 |
| 85 | $1.9125 | $17.00 | $18.9125 |
| 200 | $4.50 | $40.00 | $44.50 |
| 850 | $19.125 | $170.00 | $189.125 |
Reading the receipt
After the batch, ask the usage ledger for the job ids. GET /v1/usage lists reserved, captured and refunded rows. Captured rows sum to what you spent; reserved rows are holds. For flat-price tools the two numbers match, so a final bill of $18.9125 is expected, shown to the cent as $18.91 on a dashboard.
