Remove background is $0.0225 per image and image upscale is $0.20 per image on the Sume rate card. For 1,200 product photos that is $27.00 for cutouts and $240.00 for upscales, $267.00 for both.

Batch totals

Run each tool on every photo and the totals are linear. The table also shows what happens when you upscale only the photos that need it.

Where the money is

The upscale costs 0.20 / 0.0225 = 8.9 times the cutout. If half of a catalog is already above your marketplace's minimum size, skipping upscales on those saves more than the whole cutout bill: 600 skipped upscales is $120.00, against $27.00 for every cutout.

Worked example and checks

Order matters for cost only if you skip steps. Removing the background first and upscaling the cutout means the upscale runs on a smaller subject region in some pipelines, but the rate card prices both per image regardless of content, so the order does not change the bill. It changes quality, so test both orders on ten photos.

Retries also count. If 5% of cutouts need a second pass, that adds 60 more images, or $1.35. If 5% of upscales are redone, that is 60 x $0.20 = $12.00. Budget the retry rate on the expensive step, not the cheap one.

What is not included

These are the per-image rates only. They do not cover storage, resizing for each marketplace, or a human check of edges on hair and glass. Run a 20-photo sample first and keep the output you would actually publish. Sume bills model and tool usage at the published rate on top of the plan fee, so the plan price is separate from every number in this post.
