45-minute video render on Sume: the 30-minute cap and a $4.50 split

Timeline 1.0 renders cost $0.10 per output minute, rounded up, with a 30-minute maximum. A 45-minute video renders as 30 + 15 minutes for $4.50.

A single Sume Timeline 1.0 render cannot exceed 30 minutes, so a 45-minute video has to be rendered in two parts, for example 30 + 15 minutes. At $0.10 per output minute, rounded up with a one-minute minimum, that is $3.00 + $1.50 = $4.50, plus whatever you pay to join the parts.

How the render price works

The catalog lists timeline render at $0.10 per output minute, ceil, minimum 1 minute and maximum 30 minutes. The audio duration field accepts 1 to 1,800 seconds, and a timeline takes 1 to 200 video slots. Rounding up means a 61-second output bills 2 minutes ($0.20), not 1.02.

Splitting well

Split on a natural boundary, such as a chapter change, so the cut is invisible. Split sizes also matter for the ceiling: 44 minutes and 1 second splits as 30 + 15 and bills 45 minutes, while 45 minutes split as 25 + 20 bills the same 45. Splitting does not change the total as long as each part is a whole number of minutes; fractional parts each round up, so a 44.5-minute video split into 30 + 14.5 bills 30 + 15.

Joining the parts is a separate step. The catalog lists timeline audio concat/split at $0.01 per job and compose at $0.02 per job, so a final join adds a few cents. Check the Timeline docs for what the join job accepts before planning around it.

  • Plan route: POST /v1/timeline-1.0/plan is an unbilled compile preflight.
  • Render route: POST /v1/timeline-1.0/render.
  • Poll the job envelope with GET /v1/jobs/:id/status and /result.

A 90-minute case

For a 90-minute video the same logic gives three 30-minute renders at $3.00 each, or $9.00 in total, and two joins at $0.01 each if you chain audio parts. A 2-hour video is four 30-minute renders for $12.00.

Because every render rounds up to a whole minute, long projects lose at most 59 seconds of billing per part. With a 45-minute video split into three 15-minute parts the bill is the same $4.50. The cost of more parts is therefore not in the render price but in the extra joins and the work to make cuts seamless.
