YouTube ads need a business name and logo from Oct 12, 2026
From October 12, 2026 YouTube and partners line items in DV360 need a business name (25 characters) and a square logo. Specs, and why not to generate the logo.

Starting October 12, 2026, setting a business name and logo is required for all YouTube and partners line items in Display & Video 360. The business name has a maximum of 25 characters; the logo must be square (1:1), at least 128 x 128 pixels, 1200 x 1200 recommended, and no larger than 5120 KB. Use your real logo file. Sume's image models are the wrong tool for the logo itself, and its video models are the right tool for the ad that sits next to it.
The requirement and the specs are from Google's Display & Video 360 Help page, read on 2026-10-02. A second page, Google Ads Help, says Video view, Video reach and specific Reservation campaigns prompt for a business name and logo; that page gives no date or specs.
What exactly does Google require?
The DV360 page states a date, a character limit and logo specs. The Google Ads page lists the campaign types that prompt for the assets and where suggestions come from.
| Item | Rule |
|---|---|
| Start date (DV360) | October 12, 2026: required for all YouTube & partners line items |
| Business name | Maximum 25 characters |
| Logo shape | Square (1:1) |
| Logo minimum | 128 x 128 pixels |
| Logo recommended | 1200 x 1200 pixels |
| Logo max file size | 5120 KB |
| Google Ads campaigns that prompt | Video view, Video reach, YouTube Pause ads, Target frequency, specific Reservation campaigns |
| Where Google Ads suggests assets from | Last used business name and logo in the account, or the YouTube channel name and logo of the video you add |
Should I make the logo with an AI image model?
No. A logo is an identity file you already own, and it has to match your website, your store and your channel. Generating one risks a new mark nobody has agreed on. If your master logo is not square, pad it onto a square canvas in a design tool and export a PNG at 1200 x 1200.
Sume's Image API also cannot promise exact pixels: its resolution is a tier (512, 1K, 2K, 4K) and explicit pixel size is not served in v1, so a model output will not land on 1200 x 1200 by request. Pixel-exact files belong in your design tool.
Check the file before you upload
This short script checks a logo against the DV360 numbers above. It needs the Pillow package.
import os
from PIL import Image
path = "logo.png"
w, h = Image.open(path).size
kb = os.path.getsize(path) / 1024
print(f"{w}x{h}px, {kb:.0f} KB")
assert w == h, "logo must be square (1:1)"
assert w >= 128, "minimum is 128 x 128"
assert kb <= 5120, "maximum file size is 5120 KB"
print("OK; 1200 x 1200 is the recommended size" if w < 1200 else "OK")
Where Sume fits in the YouTube ad
The business name and logo travel with the ad, but the ad still needs a video. Sume's video generation makes 16:9 and 9:16 clips from a product image or a prompt, and a clip that opens on your product, followed by your real logo end card from your own editor, gives the line item both parts.
Before October 12, open each active YouTube and partners line item and confirm it has a business name of 25 characters or fewer and a square logo, so nothing fails at the deadline.
