A brand end card for holiday ads with the Logo Motion Design Format

The last second of a holiday ad is usually a logo, and animating it is a separate job from making the ad. sume-logo-motion-design is a catalog Format that takes a logo image and returns a short 9:16 reveal; the shipped example builds a first frame with ChatGPT Image 2 and animates it with Seedance 2.5 reference-to-video. Join it to your clip with the timeline render.

What does the Format take?

sume-logo-motion-design, from the Format catalog docs (read 2026-10-01)
ItemValue
EndpointPOST /v1/formats/sume/sume-logo-motion-design/runs
InputA logo image as an attachment, plus a short brief
Example briefA minimal 9:16 logo ident: a black geometric mark emerges through soft silver light and resolves on warm white
OutputA video (confirm with GET /v1/formats/sume/sume-logo-motion-design)
Keysformats:write to create, formats:read to poll

How do I attach the end card to a finished ad?

Run the Format, wait for the terminal state, and take the video URL from the run receipt. Then send both clips to POST /v1/timeline-1.0/render as two video[] slots on one audio spine. A transition goes on the slot after the first, so put a short fade on the end card. Timeline rendering is $0.10 per output minute, rounded up; POST /v1/timeline-1.0/plan returns the cost estimate without billing.

curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/timeline-1.0/render \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: ad-plus-endcard-001" \
  -d '{
    "audio": { "url": "https://media.sume.com/artifacts/artf_demo/ad-audio.wav", "duration_seconds": 17 },
    "video": [
      { "source_url": "https://media.sume.com/artifacts/artf_demo/ad.mp4", "start": 0, "duration": 14 },
      { "source_url": "https://media.sume.com/artifacts/artf_demo/endcard.mp4", "start": 14, "duration": 3,
        "transition": { "type": "fade", "duration": 0.25 } }
    ]
  }'

What should I check?

The audio spine decides the length, so the audio file you pass as the spine has to run as long as audio.duration_seconds and cover the end card; add a music bed or a tail of silence to the audio before you upload it. Coverage of video may trail the spine by at most 0.5 seconds. For a still logo with a plain fade, you do not need the Format at all; the timeline treats a still as a static hold, which is covered in the end-card still post.

When is a generated end card worth it?

It is worth it when you want a branded sting that feels like part of a campaign, for instance a snow-white reveal across all of your holiday ads. It is not worth it when your logo is already animated by a design team; import that file with POST /v1/media-imports and use it as the last slot in the timeline.

Because the end card is the same in every ad, run the Format once, keep the video URL, and reuse it in each timeline render. Media URLs on media.sume.com are durable and public, so the same file can sit in many renders without a re-run.

What are the limits?

  • Generated logo animation can alter a mark. For a trademark that must be exact, check every frame, or use the still hold instead.
  • The shipped example is a fictional black geometric mark. A fine-lined or multicolour logo may need a second try with a tighter brief.
  • The Format animates one image; it does not know your brand colours unless you say so in the brief.
  • A run that cannot finish unattended comes back failed with unattended_blocked.
