Business Agent for YouTube ads: what Sume makes, what it doesn't
Google's Business Agent answers shopper questions inside YouTube ads. Sume does not build that agent; it makes the product video the ad runs.

Business Agent for YouTube ads is a conversational layer that Google runs; Sume does not build or host one. What Sume does make is the video creative the ad plays, as an MP4 from a Format run. Treat them as two pieces: the agent answers questions, the video earns the view.
Google facts are from its September 2026 holiday shopping post and Demand Gen Drop, read 2026-09-30. Sume facts are from the Format catalog and Structured output.
What is Business Agent for YouTube ads?
Google says it is inviting U.S. retailers to a beta where Business Agent sits inside YouTube ads, letting viewers research and ask complex product questions without leaving the video. The Demand Gen Drop describes it alongside video ads with product feeds and links to a sign-up. Eligibility and setup are on Google's pages.
Which part can Sume handle?
The video asset. The catalog lists Formats you can call from your own backend, and each reports an input_kind of url, text, image or product and an output_kind of video, image or text. Pick one that takes your product input and returns video.
| Piece | Who handles it | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Answers inside the ad | Google Business Agent | Google blog |
| Product feed data | Your Merchant Center feed | Google blog |
| Product video file | Sume Format run | Sume catalog docs |
| Feed-shaped JSON drafts | Sume output_schema | Sume structured output docs |
Does the video need a particular orientation?
Sume's video docs list 16:9, 4:3, 1:1, 3:4 and 9:16 among accepted ratios. Which ones YouTube ad placements want is Google's call; check Demand Gen video ad specs and the ad format you buy before choosing.
Can Sume help with the product data side?
Partly. A Format run can bind a JSON Schema and return typed, validated JSON, so a human can review draft product fields before you put them in your feed. Sume does not read or write your Merchant Center account, and it does not answer shopper questions. See output schema templates.
