What an Omni video edit costs on Sume: the 8-second reserve hint
An Omni edit sends no duration to the provider, so Sume sizes the estimate from a hint (default 8 s). Table for 3, 5, 8 and 10 s at 720p, 1080p and 4K.

An edit on gemini-omni-flash-1.1 is priced per output second like any Omni job, but the provider does not return an output length, so Sume uses the duration you send only as an estimate hint. If you send no duration with video_url, the hint defaults to 8 seconds, which at 720p is $1.00.
Sume bills provider list times 1.25 per output second (Video Router docs, read 2026-10-07). With fal list at $0.10, $0.15 and $0.30 per second, that is $0.125, $0.1875 and $0.375 at 720p, 1080p and 4K. Provider prices are subject to change, so treat the live catalog as the source.
How the hint works
Edit mode sends no aspect_ratio (a 400 if you give one) and no duration to the provider, because the source clip sets the output. Whatever duration you send is used only as the estimate hint. The default is 8 seconds when you send none.
- Send
durationequal to your source clip's length rounded up if you want the reserve to track it. - Leave
resolutionout and you get 720p. - Keep sending an
Idempotency-Keyso a retry returns the original job.
Reserve by hint length and resolution
Each figure is hint seconds times the Sume per-second rate, rounded to the cent.
| Hint | 720p ($0.125/s) | 1080p ($0.1875/s) | 4K ($0.375/s) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 s | $0.38 | $0.57 | $1.13 |
| 5 s | $0.63 | $0.94 | $1.88 |
| 8 s (default) | $1.00 | $1.50 | $3.00 |
| 10 s | $1.25 | $1.88 | $3.75 |
Choosing the resolution for an edit
An edit is often a second pass over a clip you already like, so the resolution decides the price more than the instruction does. A common pattern is to edit at 720p, judge the change, and only then repeat the winning prompt at 1080p. Two 720p tries and one 1080p final of 8 seconds cost $1.00 + $1.00 + $1.50 = $3.50 at the default hint.
Treat the table as an estimate and compare it with the amount on the finished job.
A budget for a ten-edit session
Ten edits at 720p with the default 8 second hint estimate $10.00, since each is $1.00. If you edit 5 second clips and send duration: 5, the estimate falls to $6.25 for the ten ($0.625 each). Check the finished jobs for the actual amounts.
