Veo 3.1 price per second: Google's API vs fal, audio on and off
Veo 3.1 Standard is $0.40 a second at 720p and 1080p on Google's API; fal splits audio on and off. A dated table, 8-second clip costs, and the Omni alternative.

On Google's Gemini API, Veo 3.1 Standard costs $0.40 per second at 720p and 1080p and $0.60 at 4K, Fast costs $0.10, $0.12 and $0.30, and Lite costs $0.05 and $0.08 with no 4K, all with audio included by default. fal lists Veo 3.1 with a separate audio-off price: Standard $0.20 per second off and $0.40 on at 720p and 1080p, Fast $0.10 off and $0.15 on. These previews shut down on October 22, 2026, so the prices matter for three more weeks.
Both price tables below were read on 2026-10-01 from Google's pricing page and fal's Veo 3.1 page. Sume does not list a Veo id; the Sume-side comparison at the end uses gemini-omni-flash-1.1.
What does Google charge per second?
Google's page prices by tier and resolution, and says audio is part of the price. It also notes you are charged only when a video is successfully generated.
| Tier | 720p | 1080p | 4K |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $0.40 | $0.40 | $0.60 |
| Fast | $0.10 | $0.12 | $0.30 |
| Lite | $0.05 | $0.08 | Not supported |
What does fal charge?
fal's page separates audio off from audio on. Its stated example, a 5-second 1080p Standard clip with audio, is $2.00, which matches $0.40 times 5.
| Tier | Resolution | Audio off | Audio on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 720p / 1080p | $0.20 | $0.40 |
| Standard | 4K | $0.40 | $0.60 |
| Fast | 720p / 1080p | $0.10 | $0.15 |
| Fast | 4K | $0.30 | $0.35 |
What does one 8-second clip cost?
Veo's longest single generation is 8 seconds, and 1080p and 4K require it. At those lengths, Standard 1080p with audio is $3.20 on both Google and fal, Fast 1080p is $0.96 on Google and $1.20 on fal with audio, and fal's Standard audio-off price is $1.60. The differences between the two Fast prices are real: Google's table shows $0.12 at 1080p, fal's shows $0.15 with audio.
Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 is Google's named replacement. Its Gemini API price is about $0.10 per second at 720p, so an 8-second clip is about $0.81 there. On Sume the same model is billed at provider list times 1.25, which is $1.00 for 8 seconds at 720p if the list is $0.10, and the live rate is in pricing_skus from GET /v1/videos/models.
Limits
Prices change and promotions come and go, and I could not confirm whether either page has a batch or free tier that would lower these numbers. The Veo figures cannot be bought on Sume, so the Sume line is a worked example for the replacement model only.
