Google's own guidance is to use Gemini Omni Flash as the default video model and Veo 3.1 when you need scene extension, last-frame control or a legacy pipeline. Omni Flash takes text, images, audio and video inputs together and edits across turns; Veo 3.1 makes 4, 6 or 8 second clips with audio and can extend Veo videos. On Sume, only Omni is listed, as gemini-omni-flash-1.1.

Quotes and limits are from Google's video overview, Veo page and Omni page, read 2026-09-29.

How do the two Google models differ?

What does Sume list?

Sume lists gemini-omni-flash-1.1, not Veo. Its catalog entry: 3 to 10 seconds, 360p to 4K, 16:9 or 9:16, native synced audio, image and video references (no audio), first and last frame images, and edit through Video Router's video_url. Confirm the live limits with GET /v1/videos/models.

How do I choose?

  • Editing a video across turns: Omni Flash.
  • Extending a Veo-generated clip: Veo 3.1 on Google's API.
  • One request shape across several models: Sume's /v1/videos, changing only model.
  • Not sure: run one short clip on each and compare the frames you need.
