TikTok Video Shopping Ads video specs and limits
TikTok's Video Shopping Ads page sets counts, not file specs: up to 20 products and 50 videos per ad group. Here is what it says and what it leaves out.

TikTok's Video Shopping Ads pages do not list video file specs. They set counts: you can add up to 20 active products to an ad and select up to 50 videos per ad group. Dimensions, length, file size and bitrate come from the in-feed ad page, which says Video Shopping Ads make in-feed video ads shoppable.
The TikTok facts below are from How to create Video Shopping Ads for TikTok Shop and Best practices for Video Shopping Ads, both marked "Last updated: March 2026", plus the June 2026 TikTok Auction In-Feed Ads page, all read 2026-09-29.
What limits does the Video Shopping Ads page set?
These are the numbers and defaults on the two March 2026 pages.
| Item | What the page says |
|---|---|
| Products per ad | Up to 20 active products |
| Videos per ad group | Up to 50; create more ad groups for more videos |
| Video source | Choose existing posts from a TikTok account, or upload new videos |
| Creatives per ad group | TikTok recommends 3-5 ad creatives at minimum |
| Refresh cadence | Add a new creative ideally once a week, or when you see creative fatigue such as falling CTR |
| Campaign type | Beginning July 2025, GMV Max is the default and only supported campaign type for TikTok Shop Ads |
Where are the file specs?
The same help center's in-feed ads page, last updated June 2026, lists them for Non-Spark ads: vertical 9:16 recommended at 540x960 pixels or more, video up to 10 minutes, file size 500 MB or less, bitrate 516 kbps or more, and formats .mp4, .mov, .mpeg, .3gp and .avi. Spark Ads (pull) take .mp4 or .mov with no duration restriction.
The Video Shopping Ads pages do not say those in-feed numbers apply to them, so read them as the closest published specs, not as a Video Shopping Ads guarantee. Our longer write-up is TikTok in-feed ad specs.
How do I make several vertical clips with Sume?
TikTok's advice is 3-5 creatives per ad group, so you need several clips per product, not one. Sume's video API (POST /v1/videos) takes aspect_ratio 9:16 and a duration in seconds; seedance-2.5 accepts 4-30 seconds at 480p, 720p or 1080p. Repeat the call with a different prompt and a new Idempotency-Key for each variant.
curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/videos \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-H "Idempotency-Key: vsa-variant-01" \
-d '{
"model": "seedance-2.5",
"prompt": "A hand turns a ceramic mug on a desk, slow camera move",
"resolution": "720p",
"duration": 12,
"aspect_ratio": "9:16"
}'What still has to happen outside Sume?
Uploading is done in TikTok Ads Manager, where you select videos and products. Whether an AI disclosure applies is covered in does TikTok allow AI-generated content. TikTok Shop's US policy adds that AI must not alter a product's size, color or performance, so check each generated clip against the product page before you upload.
