Yes. TikTok's help page for the Commercial Content Disclosure setting lists a path for a video you have already posted: open your profile, select the post, choose More options, then Ad settings, turn on Disclose commercial content, pick a category and save (read 2026-10-03). You do not need to re-upload the file to add the toggle.

The page covers the in-app steps, the web upload steps, and what the two categories do. It does not say whether a toggle set late is treated differently from one set at posting, so this post sticks to what the page lists.

What are the steps for a posted video, a new post and the web?

These are the paths the page gives, in its own order. Menu names can change by app version and region, so check your screen against them.

What label do Your brand and Branded content show?

The page says posts display a "Commercial content" label, or "Paid partnership" for third-party branded content. Choosing Branded content adds a Brand partnership step to tag the partner; the page gives a 60-day authorization default for that step.

It also warns that when you promote a brand, product or service you must turn the setting on, and that failing to do so may result in post removal or restrictions. For the API-side field names behind these two choices, see brand_organic_toggle vs brand_content_toggle.

Does the toggle replace a disclosure line in the video?

No source I read says it does. The toggle is a setting in TikTok's posting flow; it is not a property of the video file, so editing the file does not set it and setting it does not touch your pixels. If your own caption or on-screen line also names the sponsor, that line is separate.

When you want the line in the file as well, Video captions can burn authored overlay copy: pass cues (or segments) with text, start and end, which skips speech-to-text. The result is a new captioned video, so a posted video needs a re-upload to carry it. That is the real cost of adding a burned-in line late, and a reason to decide before you post. Timing worries are covered in the reported 24 hours to disclose or appeal.

A late-fix routine for a batch of AI clips

If a batch went out before the toggle was set, work in this order.

  • List every posted clip that promotes a brand, product or service, yours or a partner's.
  • Set the toggle on each from Ad settings and choose the category that matches who owns the product.
  • Tag the partner on any Branded content post and note the authorization date.
  • Record post, category and date next to the clip, so a later question has an answer.
